We're so excited to announce that one of the UK's leading nutrition experts will be demonstrating how to make healthy snacks and lunchboxes at Frestival.
Jenny Tschiesche, known as the Lunchbox Doctor, will be showing families how to avoid the white bread ham sandwich, biscuit and crisps monotony by cooking up some tasty alternatives in our cookery theatre.
A mother of two, Jenny started her business creating nutritious recipes when her daughter went to school in 2009.
She said: “As a newly qualified nutritionist I realised very quickly that the typical lunchboxes were far below the required nutritional standards for health, let alone optimal health.
“So I started combining my nutrition knowledge and advice with creating straight-forward recipes and time-saving tips to share online with other parents also wanting simple solutions in their already busy lives.”
Since then, Jenny has worked with leading brands and health campaigns, including
BBC Sport, Sport England and Cancer Research UK.
She regularly contributes to TV and radio shows including Good Morning Britain and BBC Radio and to newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, The Mail, The Express and Top Santé. She has also published a number of recipe books.
“We all know parents are busy people and making lunches is just another one of those things on the list to do,” she added.
“I provide parents with lots of tips and tricks for simple, nutritious recipes so children are full-up with plenty of energy for their afternoon at school.
“It doesn’t need to be complicated, just tasty. Ideally, a lunchbox will contain all 6 components of a nutritionally balanced lunch.”
At Frestival, Jenny will be part of the cookery theatre and will be taking to the stage at 2.45pm.
She said: “Lunchboxes don’t have to be stressful. I love showing parents who have children with food allergies how to make simple, free from dishes to make life that bit easier, especially on a busy weekday morning. ”
The cookery theatre will also host a number of local chefs, including Mytton and Mermaid head chef Chris Burt, Richard Fletcher, chef and proprietor of The Pheasant Inn at Admaston and Lajina Leal, of Lajina Masala.
Organiser Ian Bebbington said he was delighted to welcome Jenny to Frestival.
He said: “We’re so excited that Jenny will be bringing her Lunchbox Doctor brand to the event.
“It will be great for parents to pick up some new tips for healthy eating for their kids. “We all know children can be fussy but Jenny has some great ways to encourage them to eat the right foods.”
